Encouraging reader participation through competition
As a way of getting the school more involved and familiar with our website, I worked with the broadcasting web director and news director to orchestrate two contests for concert tickets. Views on web stories increased from an average of 20 views to averaging around 100.
Advertising is always effective in reaching audiences, and as advertising manager I took full advantage. When a new journalism class was added so I created an ad to encourage enrollment. Our only fundraiser is a holiday mart in December, so I created a web ad to publicize it.
Designing group shirts for ‘Mobile Advertisements’
At my school, group t-shirts are a big deal. If a group has a cool shirt people are more likely to be interested. I created t-shirts for newspaper two years and both years have received comments and interest both at school and from others in the community.
