As Editor-in-Chief, I was given the opportunity to write the staff editorial. The first editorial focused on recent district boundary change discussions. Upon reading this editorial many members of my school told me they felt heard. The second covers student voice, a topic I feel passionately about.

Sports are certainly not my forte, but taking on new challenges can never be a negative thing. I took on the sports feature and it ended up a very interesting story. I ended up learning his mother knew my boss and bragged about the story to her.

Caffeine is something I personally rely on to function. That inspired me to write about just how much teenagers in my community were consuming and its effects. I feel this is one of my best pieces because it covers all sides while still having a purpose, not just a filler.

This Erik Shaaf feature was the first journalism story I ever wrote and remains the hardest challenge I have encountered. Erik Shaaf is a nonverbal student chosen at random for a feature. Gathering information was tough as interviewing Erik was abnormal, but it did end up making an amazing story.

I feel this story is one of my best primarily because of the organization. For this story, I had quite a few sources from many different parts of the issue, and I was able to blend them into a well rounded, cohesive story.
